Accessibility Statement

At Harefield Barn, we aim to offer high levels of hospitality to all our guests, regardless of any permanent or temporary disability, medical condition, or other specific requirements. This Access Statement is designed to give you the information you need to assess how effectively we can meet your needs.

PRIOR TO ARRIVAL

The Barn is located approximately 10 minutes drive from Exeter through country lanes, accessible by car, bicycle or multiple occupancy vehicles up to midi coaches. The entrance off the lane is not suitable for full size coaches. Directions to Harefield Barn can be found on the website. If you require a taxi or accessible taxi, this should be booked in advance.

ARRIVAL

The car park is reached by an uphill, sweeping drive with a concrete surface initially, then a finish of fairly large stones, with lit bollards along the main entrance drive after dark. There is a paved area directly outside the main door of the Barn where guests can be dropped for easy wheelchair access to the building. The entrance porch floor is tiled and the entrance hall is floored in smooth oak all on one level, with low thresholds and wide doors suitable for wheelchairs.

PUBLIC AREAS

The Bar has a tiled floor with comfortable soft seating, and the Main Hall has an oak floor, both of which are on one level. All areas are well-lit and doorways are wheelchair accessible. Any seating arrangements can be altered to suit requirements. Ladies’, Gentlemen’s, and Disabled toilets are all located on the ground floor off the entrance hall and have vinyl flooring. Harefield Barn does not have a hearing loop installed.

The terrace and garden seating area at the rear of the Barn and can be accessed via large bifold doors which have low thresholds suitable for wheelchair users.

FIRST FLOOR

The Gallery, Ceremony and Bridal Preparation room are accessed via a straight flight of stairs with bannisters on both sides, but there is no lift to the upper area.

GENERAL

All information such as bar tariffs can be printed in larger fonts on request. Service dogs are accepted by prior arrangement. We are able to store medication needing refrigeration on prior request.
