The very first wedding here at Harefield Barn was when our middle daughter married the lovely, (and very tall), Sam, and what a lot has changed!
Their’s was a winter wedding, and they chose Andy @harrera_images to capture the day in his beautiful atmospheric style.
Of course, it was a big day in their lives, and also a pretty momentous one in ours! Believe it or not, the image below shows them sat up on the scaffolding less than 8 months before the wedding day, so you can imagine how stressful those 8 months were. Either they had a blind faith that we could make it happen, or they were just extremely good at hiding their anxiety, because I don’t think we ever once talked about a plan B if it wasn’t finished in time. Perhaps the fact that they were living in Winchester helped!
In the end, after an unbelievable effort from all concerned, including our fabulous son-in-law and project manager Paul, everything did come together, and we had an amazing day.
Seeing these photos makes me realise just how much has changed. Sam and Hettie have moved home twice, and now have two lovely girls, and as for the Barn? Well on their wedding day, there was no terrace or clock house, no glass in the porch and no garden to speak of, but now, in our 7th year, the Barn has matured and settled into the landscape as if it has always been there, whatever time of year.
And what hasn’t changed? That amazing view, the relaxed happy atmosphere and a wonderful warm welcome, so if you’re looking for an exclusive venue in the Devon countryside, why not come and say hello?
